I would however suggest that you should begin any posts like this with a disclaimer, explaining that certain parts should NOT be powder-coated. Aluminum SCUBA tanks, for example have been known to explode (with catastrophically fatal consequences) when being re-filled after powder-coating. Aluminum hubs for spoked motorcycle wheels have also been prone to catastrophic failure. This is always a result of the powder baking temperature being high enough to negatively affect the factory heat-treatment and tempering. Basically, when it comes down to the powder-coating of alloys in structural applications (other than irons and steels) care should be exercised and research should be done. I have a project that my client agreed to have painted a bright yellow and now wants to know if I can change the color to more of a yellow-orange hue. Payment for the extra work isn't an issue. I'm concerned that the additional build-up will become runny. The yellow was cured at 400f so I'm also wondering if I tried to cure at for example 390f but give more time if the powder will smooth out yet retain some viscosity?<br />Jim Wallacehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06729439475829742959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6576346347573188227.post-85190366028185170262021-01-10T16:51:32.752-08:002021-01-10T16:51:32.752-08:00Love this oven. Man, I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out! My cabinet is about 5' high and I built a removable shelf to create what's effectively a double oven. I have two PID's and three 2500W elements total (one upper, one lower, one convection). Bought my control panel stuff from Auber and they too did a great job. My oven door view panel busted on first use but I'll fix that somehow. What a fun project. Thanks for all the fantastic guidance.
